Transcatheter Technologies won the 2011 ICI Innovation-of-the-Year Award, after being chosen from over 80 entries submitted by entrepreneurs around the world. The written submissions were reviewed by a team of 7 distinguished judges – all leaders in the world of cardiovascular device entrepreneurship and industry – and 10 were chosen as finalists, to present to the team of judges in a “Dragon’s Den” type satellite of the ICI Meeting. These judges were all very important persons in this arena and having their approval was most significant, and helped open doors such as contact with relevant Venture Capitalists as well as New Business Development Teams of global Medtech companies. As the winner, I presented also at the Plenary Session of ICI – which is the premiere international conference devoted to innovations in the world of cardiovascular medicine.

Winning the ICI Award was a great publicity boost for Transcatheter Technologies, and was very useful in contacting relevant persons. For example, Prof. Martin Leon, Prof. Martin Rothman, Dr. Maurice Buchbinder and many other Key Opinion leaders (especially in Israel Prof. Chaim Lotan), as well as Venture Capitalists such as Yuval Binur

It was also a pleasure, as well as excellent exposure, presenting our technologies at ICI in subsequent years and to strengthen our friendship with regular attendees.

Some months after winning the award, we successfully completed animal testing, and in 2013 successfully achieved first-in-man implantation of our Trinity System – with now two years follow up – and presented the results at the TCT congress.

Since then we have expanded our portfolio by a transcatheter mitral valve prosthesis and an endovascular repair system. in 2015 we successfully sold our intellectual property and technology to a leading Chinese Medtech company, Venus MedTech. The contacts developed through ICI helped us to consolidate connection and trust with this Chinese group.

I look back fondly on the ICI Innovation-of-the Year Award as an important stepping-stone in Transcatheter Technologies’ road to success.

And I am looking forward to joining one of the next competitions.
