Jonathan Behar

Jonathan is a cardiology resident, specialising in cardiac devices, imaging and heart failure at Barts Heart Centre in London. He is completing his PhD work where at St Thomas’ Hospital (under Professor Christopher Aldo Rinaldi), he explored the role of both cardiac MRI and CT to guide the implantation of leads for delivery of cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). Along with partners, Siemens Healthcare, he co-designed a purpose built image guidance platform for the real time processing, analysis and overlay of cardiac MRI data onto X-Ray to guide CRT. He led another clinical study which was the first to demonstrate the superiority of left ventricular endocardial pacing over conventional epicardial lead placement for the delivery of CRT. Earlier this year, he was involved in the set up of the UK clinical centres, for a post CE-mark European registry investigating the clinical outcomes of implanting the world’s first wireless, endocardial LV electrode for delivery of CRT to patients with heart failure. Jonathan has a passion for innovation and is excited to return to ICI for the third successive year.
